Today, I’m going to show you how to draw a wreath with anemone flowers and how to fill it in with greenery.

Step 1: Draw your guidelines in pencil

Using your round object, draw in a light pencil line.

Next, you want to lay out the shape and placement of where your flowers are going to go. Again, if you haven’t watched the anemone video yet, you can do that here. I’ll be drawing anemone’s here from both a side view and a top view.

To make things look more natural, place your flowers a little off to the side and try to work in uneven numbers.

Step 2: Draw your anemones using your Micron 3 pencil

Step 3: Fill in the leaves

Just a note that this part could get a liiitttlllleee messy, so you may want to do this in pencil first.

I like to keep my leaves all pointing in the same direction. I find that it makes it look just a little bit neater. You can fill them in later pointing in different directions.

Remember, the flowers that are smaller and appear more tucked, won’t need any leaves because you wouldn’t be able to see them anyway.

Now take a look at your overall composition and see where you need to fill in more leaves so the wreath appears to be as rounded as possible. Add in some more leaves that don’t appear to be on a vine so that they sort of peek out from behind the flowers.

Step 4: Erase all of your pencil guidelines

Step 5: Add detail lines to the flowers

Step 6: Add detail lines to the leaves

I don’t typically like to add too many lines to the leaves, but do make sure to differentiate the skinnier leaves with the wider ones.

Step 7: Thicken your lines for contrast

Once all of those details are in, go ahead and take your thicker pen (the Micron 5) and go around adding some contrast to the entire composition.

Final expert tip: Squint your eyes and take a step back; see if you notice any weird empty spaces.
