Happy Holidays! As you know, I love making handmade gifts during the holidays. I also love DIYing wrapping paper and gift bags. This year, I designed some adorable gingerbread house gift bags and wanted to share the tutorial with you!

First Things First…

The links below may be affiliate links where appropriate. This means that your purchase through these links may result in a few cents in payment to me, to support creating further resources like this one! That being said, I will never suggest supplies that I do not personally use and fully recommend.

Supplies Used

  • Kraft Paper Gift Bags
  • POSCA Paint Pen (5M or smaller size)

What you need to know…

This tutorial is pretty easy. If you feel more comfortable sketching out your design with a pencil, please do that first. I’m just going to jump right in though! I definitely recommend watching the full tutorial for this. I’ll share the highlights below though!

Step #1: Draw your roof outline (about 1/3 of the bag) and your house outline.

This doesn’t have to be perfect – just have fun with it!

Step #2: Add scallops and roof details.

I kept it classic, but feel free to pick whatever roof design works for you!

Step #3: Add your door.

I want the doorway to stick out a little bit — coming all the way up to the top. Feel free to just wing it. Every bag I make like this turns out totally different, so I experiment as I go.

Step #4: Add windows.

Add windows on either side of the house – I chose a rounded one at the top and square ones at the bottom. Bring the tops of the windows to about the same level and add small ones like this.

Step #5: Add details and decorations!

Hearts, circles, swirls, dots, flourishes – you can’t go wrong here!

Step #6: Add personalization!

I love adding a sign on the door with recipient’s name – so cute!

That’s a Wrap!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. I’d love to see what you create—tag me on Instagram @thehappyevercrafter. For now, I’ll link you to another holiday post.

And finally, your dad joke…

I don’t understand why people use wrapping paper
It’s ALL tearable!

I bought the bags a few days ago as I knew I wanted to try this – SO cute.
(For you personally check out plain white tissue box – decorate like gingerbread house and the tissues come out of chimney) so badly described ! I need practice with the piping! I can’t show photo sadly.

Tell me what you thought!
