In this interview Jenna Rainey gives us a whole step-by-step process on how she scans, edits AND digitizes her watercolour artwork.

SOO many awesome tips, tricks and shortcuts to save yourself time!

Check out the video below, and then scroll down for my key takeaways and a list of all the resources we mentioned!

IN THIS EPISODE YOU’LL LEARN:

  • How Photoshop can help you save time and energy when creating patterns and designs
  • How many DPI you should be working with for different scenarios/uses (and what the DPI even is)
  • What kind of questions you should be asking yourself while thinking about creating a collection of work
  • Why you should consider colour theory while creating your artwork
  • The difference between RGB and CMYK colour codes (and which should be used when)
  • As well as SO. MANY. KEYBOARD. SHORTCUTS.

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THIS LESSON:

  1. Don’t be afraid to just GOOGLE whatever you’re trying to learn. There are so many amazing FREE resources online that can help you figure out what you need to know, you just got to look for it.
  2. Set your DPI (dots per inch) at a minimum of 300 DPI if the final product will be for PRINT, and 72 DPI if it will be used for the WEB.
  3. You can always (ALWAYS) pivot your services! It’s totally acceptable to change your focus if whatever you’re doing now doesn’t fit.
